Reporting Requirements
Reporting supports the program team in tracking the activities, outputs, and ultimately outcomes of the Smith Fellows. During the two-year fellowship period, the Fellow should keep the Program apprised of any major accomplishments or changes to the proposed research. Such changes should be discussed and approved by the program staff. Fellowship expectations, performance measures and reporting are discussed in detail during orientation. This information is used to report to the Cedar Tree Foundation, to the larger Smith Fellows community, and through other newsletters and communications.
Annual Reporting
Fellows are required to submit an annual report to the Program at the end of the first year and at the conclusion of the Fellowship. This report should contain the following items: your research progress, a list of field sites you are working on, other projects you have been spending time on (even if it is just providing intellectual input), any papers that have been submitted or accepted, any speaking opportunities you have had, meetings you have attended, change in location or job status, interactions with mentors and collaborations made during the year. It should also be accompanied by a budget expense report. These reports should be as comprehensive as possible, as the information will be used to report back to the Cedar Tree Foundation, the Society for Conservation Biology, and used to develop case studies for distribution to appropriate practitioners.

Budget Reporting
Your sponsoring institution must also submit an annual budget report detailing expenses and amounts remaining, broken out by funding sub-category. This report is required at the end of year one (in order to release the second year of Fellowship funding) and at the end of year two (to close out the fellowship). If an extension is granted, an additional report will be required to renew or to conclude the extension period.

Post-Fellowship Feedback & Reporting
Fellows are asked to complete a survey about their experience at the conclusion of the fellowship and at various times in the years after completing the Smith Fellowship. These responses will help us adaptively manage the Program and provide the basis for Program
