Fellows host Inclusive Field Safety Symposium at NACCB 2024

Fellows Michelle Maria Early Capistrán, Kendall Calhoun, Ezra Kottler, and Ann Marie Gawel (2022-2023 cohorts, shown above from left to right) organized and led a symposium at NACCB 2024 in Vancouver, Canada. The panel and subsequent interactive workshop explored the topic of how to conduct safe and equitable field work, taking into account additional social dimensions of field safety related to cultural differences and other personal identities that impact safety for field researchers. Fellows brought in a diverse group of panelists who shared best practices for addressing field safety challenges that face multiple cross-sections of people, including women, people of color, trans/non-binary individuals, individuals with disabilities, and people from different socio-economic backgrounds.
